It really is amazing what PlastiGirl thinks she and the House can get away with. One of the few responsibilities of the House is to propose and pass a budget each fiscal year. This budget was due to be presented back in April. Now PlastiGirl has pulled a fast one with the recently passed emergency war supplemental bill. On Thursday, before leaving D.C. for the week long holiday, the House conducted a procedural vote on the supplemental bill and attached a document to it, not an amendment, that ”deemed as passed” a budget.
What budget you may ask? A completely non-existent one that rolls in at $1.12. trillion. The process of “deeming” a document as passed means the House can move forward. Since this is a budget, they can move forward with spending our money. Since this budget is not real, that means they have no constraints. No Republicans voted for the move and 38 Democrats crossed the aisle. The vote was 215-210.
House Budget Committee Ranking Member Paul Ryan said, “Facing a record deficit and a tidal wave of debt, House Democrats decided it was politically inconvenient to put forward a budget and account for their fiscal recklessness. With no priorities and no restraints, the spending, taxing, and borrowing will continue unchecked for the coming fiscal year. The so-called ‘budget enforcement resolution’ enforces no budget, but instead provides a green light for the Appropriators to continue spending, exacerbating our looming fiscal crisis.”
Nothing surprises me when it comes to Nancy Pelosi and this government.
