College Student Becomes Mexican Police Chief

We need to pray for this brave girl that has stepped up to the plate to protect the citizens of her city because nobody else would do the job.  Eleven Mexican mayors and dozens of police officers have been killed in Mexico this year, so the prospect of becoming an important piece of the government in Mexico has become nearly a death sentence.  Mexican drug cartels are increasing their violent and bloody hold on the country. 

In a small town near Juarez, Mexico, Marisol Valles Garcia, a 20 year old college student majoring in criminology, applied to become police chief.  Being the only applicant, she was quickly hired.

Several police officers and security people have already been killed and beheaded in the town.  All of these beheadings convince me that Muslim terrorists are gathering in Mexico and training the drug cartels in their techniques.  Mexico may soon become a new front on the War on Terror.

 Valles told a local paper the reason she is taking on the job of police chief is to help the 10,000 people in her city to be less afraid. “Afraid? Everyone is afraid and it’s very natural. What motivates me here is that the project [to make the community safer] is very good and can do a lot for my town. I know that we are going to change and remove this,” she said.

When will the Mexicans decide that they have had enough and take back their country?  A civil war between the citizens and the drug cartels seems to be the only answer.  And I would be willing to see us back that effort with money if it would mean stopping the criminal invasion of our country.  Of course I demand we build the fence first.
