SPECIAL NOTE: I am live blogging the speech, so refresh for updates. I will moderate comments as you make them ASAP.
The President has finally seen fit to address the American people as to why he has spent over a billion dollars joining the world in…well…I’m not exactly sure what we are doing in Libya. We’ve heard multiple excuses. This is a humanitarian effort to save people from being slaughtered by Gaddaffy is what Hillary Clinton has maintained, even pointing out on This Week on Sunday that if we had not joined the world, everyone would think less of the United States. The President has said the same thing despite the fact that he has said that Gaddaffy must step down, no he doesn’t need to step down, he wants a democracy there as he told Turkey and again that Gaddaffy needs to leave. We all know that if this was humanitarian, we would have been in weeks ago. And why have we not gone into other countries suffering the same fate under horrible dictators? These questions all need answering tonight. We also need an answer as to why the President did not seek congressional approval. The President only has the authority to do what he did if there is an imminent threat. Secretary of Defense Gates appeared with Clinton on This Week as well and maintained that Libya had not been an imminent threat to us. We demand answers Mr. Putz-in-Chief! You better have them because people on the right and left are pissed!
The Putz-in-Chief steps to podium and says he is updating us. Hmmm…how can you update when you haven’t spoken to us until now. He praises our military first. Does he think this will pull us to his way of thinking? For generations we have played a unique role in the world’s security according to the Prez. Hmm…is that role kinetic military actor? He says when our interests are at stake, we must act. What interests? Oil?
He is claiming that this is a freedom movement again in Libya. Wonder if he will address the questions about who the rebels really are? Are they Al Qeada? He made it clear that Gaddaffy had lost legitimacy to lead. Like he would know since he hasn’t had legitimacy since day one here in America. He is detailing all the violence that has taken place. What about Iran, Syria, Yemen, Darfur and on and on? Why is Gaddaffy more dangerous than the next evil dictator?
If we waited one more day than a massive massacre would have happened and Obama refused to let that happen he is saying. He claims he consulted a bi-partisan congress before going into Libya. What a LIAR!!! Is that why even the Dems are pissed and calling for impeachment because he consulted them? Twitter tweet: Define the mission or shutup.
The President has said that we have done what we said we would do. What exactly is that? Is this his “Mission Accomplished?” Oh wow, he realizes we can’t act everytime this happens, but….Libya is different. We faced just a horrendous outcome here. If we didn’t react we wouldn’t have been true to who we are. Then why did he complain about Iraq again? He refused to wait for images of slaughter…hmm…except for that one time in Iran.
Obama says, “No regime change.” So Gaddaffy can stay to slaughter people when we leave? Of course Al Qeada seems to be the alternative. I’m still confused. The Prez says history is not on Gaddaffy’s side. Well, Obama’s history is because he sucks as a leader and he is a pansy. Obama presses the issue that we are leading a coalition and that that is what we must do and to work with allies so they can step up. Yep, we sure want france leading instead of us. And he does realize that several countries are with is in Iraq and Afghanistan. He refers to the fact that Gaddaffy has demonized this country to his people. Well, we have a leader who has demonized America to the world.
Twitter tweet from @misteratlanta: “I get it. If we’re gonna half-ass in Libya, we need to do it as a coalition!” That seems to be the mission. Our strength abroad is anchored here at home and that we need to be responsible with our resources according to the Putz-in-Chief. What strength? The strength you knocked down as you apologized for us to the world and as you made us into a paper tiger? He finally finishes! I mostly heard, “Wahh, wahh, wahh, wahh, waaaahhhh.” How about you? I also think I heard a fiddle playing while he read TOTUS.
Brit Hume thinks Obama did the best he could do. Then he points out the contradictions in Obama’s speech touting our leadership and then saying we needed to end things and let our allies take on their roles and give up leadership. I chuckle as O’Reilly asks if Sarkozy is American. I still don’t know what the hell is going on, but I didn’t expect anything more than that this evening.

This speech is a sham and conveniently ignores the death and violence being actively perpetrated against other like minded democracy seeking rebels in other muslim states…the ones we sell billions of dollars of our military technology to.
