Putin Says UN Actions Against Libya Like Crusades

Although I wholeheartedly disagree with Russian Prime Minister Vladimar Putin’s assessment of the UN actions against Libya as resembling the Crusades, I can agree with the Russian vote against the Security Council’s resolution.  Putin said at a Russian ballistic missile factory, “The resolution is defective and flawed.  It allows everything. It resembles medieval calls for crusades.”  Why has Libya become the focus of our military intervention?  Gaddaffy is no different than many horrible dictators around the world and many countries have suffered genocide and civil wars without worldwide intervention.

President Obama has been behind the curve in leadership for Operation Odyssey Dawn that many claim the US is leading and that Hillary Clinton pressured to make happen.  He is playing soccer and squeezing in family tours and photo ops in Rio while he phones in the “war.”  Where is a clear and concise address to our nation informing us and convincing us why this action is necessary?  And yes, if this was Bush doing this I would be just as against it.  The way we have fought wars in recent years has left a bad taste in my mouth and left me calling for our troops to come home ASAP.  The greatest military in the world is no match for the rules of engagement and this ludicrous foreign policy that actually believes we can win the hearts and minds of the very people who hate us for our way of life and would like nothing more than to push Sharia on us.

It does not help that we are watching our economy continue to flounder and our deficits to continue to grow as we spend one million dollars on each Tomahawk fired at Libya.  We are suppose to be proud that Gaddaffy’s compound was hit, but symbolic does not cut it ten years after 9/11 and Osama Bin Laden still running around free.  And keep in mind that it is the policy of the world to not assassinate leaders.  We either turn Libya into a glass parking lot or we let them kill each other in a civil war.  And keep in mind that no one knows exactly who the rebels are and who is leading them.  Several reports claim Al Qaeda is in the wings.  And with recent protests throughout the Middle East revealing that the Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist groups are working overtime in the middle of these “democracy” movements, I fear that we will be responsible for helping hand over Libya to Islamists.  Can anyone say Iran?
