So Much For Freedom Of The Press In UK

As many of you will recall, there was a heinous butchering carried out against the Jewish Fogel family in Israel a couple of weeks ago.  Palestinian terrorists broke into the home of the family while they slept.  Five members were stabbed to death:  the mother and father, an eleven year old boy, a four year old boy and their three month old sister’s head was nearly cut off.  It was a brutal attack.  Two men have been arrested in connection to the attack as reported by the Idaho Press:

Palestinian cousins Ahmed Awad, an officer in Abbas’ Preventative Security Services in the northern West Bank city of Nablis, and Iyad Awad, an officer in Abbas’ General Intelligence services in Ramallah, have been charged with planning the attack. Informed security sources said the two did not personally carry out the murders but assisted in the planning and logistics, including aiding in the escape. The actual killers were sleeper cells from Hamas. These men were armed, trained and funded by the U.S.

Yes, they were US trained as reported by World Net Daily.  Hopefully the actual attackers will be found and arrested soon.  In the UK, a reporter by the name of Melanie Phillips wrote about the story and is now under investigation because of some of the terminology she used.  She referred to these attackers as “savages”  and said that the Arabs that carried this out were morally depraved.  Why is that considered language worthy of investigation?  What else would you call men that can slit the throats of and stab children?  Melanie Phillips has written about her ordeal at Big Peace.  Not only were complaints received, but she was reported to the police for racism!  Good thing you can’t be reported for that here or the entire tea party would be in jail since we are supposedly racists.

It is widely recognized in civil society that the press has free speech.  There are limits when it comes to slander or libel, but Ms. Phillips was reporting the truth as she saw it and as much of the world recognizes.  Murder is wrong and those that commit it are animals.  And frankly, “animal” doesn’t cut it when referring to those that kill innocent children.  Especially when the reason this family was targeted was more than likely because they settled in an area the Palestinians thinks should be theirs exclusively.  Palestinians are Arabs and they have plenty of areas to inhabit.  They have fellow Arabs in multiple nations who could take them in, but instead they have been forced to live  as refugees rejected by their own people.  The Israelis have allowed them to live among them and even gave them the West Bank and Gaza Strip.  And yet the Palestinians are angry and want to keep the Israelis from land that is rightfully theirs.

Now the main complaint towards Phillips seems to be around the interpretation that she was referring to all Arabs as savages.  While it is obvious that she was not, what would be wrong with her writing with that perspective?  The Palestinian people did not go into the streets with outrage against their fellow Arabs and demand that those responsible be brought to justice.  No, instead candy was handed out in celebration.  It is a fact that the general Arab population hates the Jews and wants to drive them into the sea.  The majority of Arabs are Muslims who believe in an ideology spelled out in their Quran that commands them to kill the infidels: Christians and Jews.

The UK needs to back off of Melanie Phillips and continue to let her do her journalistic work with the freedom of press she has a right to practice.
