Who Is Audrey Tomason?

The name Audrey Tomason has been appearing all over the internet since the death of Usama bin Laden.  The reason is because the only photo that the President thought we Americans could handle viewing was the photo of him and his “team” in the Situation Room during the Navy SEAL raid in Pakistan that lead to the death of Usama bin Laden and Audrey Tomason was one of only two women in that picture.  There were very few people in the picture and the Press was intrigued by who this woman is and why she had access to the room at that important moment.  There could be little doubt that she was part of the Intelligence community.  According to Leadership Directories, she is the current Director for Counter Terrorism for the National Security Council.  Whitehouse.gov describes the National Security Council as thus:

The National Security Council (NSC) is the President’s principal forum for considering national security and foreign policy matters with his senior national security advisors and cabinet officials. Since its inception under President Truman, the Council’s function has been to advise and assist the President on national security and foreign policies. The Council also serves as the President’s principal arm for coordinating these policies among various government agencies.

Questions abound with that information.  Tomason attended Tufts University, graduating in 1999, and then went to Harvard to obtain her Masters in Public Policy.  What in the hell does she know about terrorism?  Perhaps she served in Intelligence somewhere?  Nope.  She worked with Americorps VISTA and ACCION, which are groups focused on fighting poverty.  Doesn’t seem like a fit for counter terrorism.  She also is a thirty-something.  That does not equate vast experience in that field.  The fact that there is very little information available about this woman is troubling.  Even more troubling is the hearsay that I have found on the internet about her thesis.

Apparently her thesis is named “Apocalypse Equation.”  I have to trust the posts here and here on that because one cannot find this thesis anywhere.  Word is that it is classified.  A college thesis that is classified?!  Someone else has a thesis we are not allowed to see…Barack Obama.  His is supposedly about nuclear proliferation and decreasing that proliferation.  Tomason’s thesis must reference nuclear weapons as well because Apocalypse Equation is a term referring to ” a ‘stochastic equation,’ because it describes the relationship of probability to time [and] shows what nuclear weapons ultimately mean for ‘civilization.’ If each of a large number (n) of nuclear missiles existing today has even a small probability (p) of being launched, over time (T) the probability of a launch (APocalypse) approaches certainty. The more missiles, the shorter the time before a launch (T₁ is less than T₂). Unless nuclear weapons are deactivated, and nonviolent means developed to take the place of military violence for achieving justice and peace, civilization is doomed.”  The hearsay on the internet has Tomason’s thesis envisioning a scenario in which only 1.5 billion people are on the planet because that is all the Earth can sustain according to her.  A nuclear war would decrease our “unsustainable” population of 7 billion very quickly.  Is this why she was interested on the raid inside of a nuclear Pakistan?

The idea that there is a woman in the adminstration who believes in population control is not far fetched when one remembers that John Holdren is a member of Obama’s team and believes in radical population control.  Holdren embraced the idea of forced abortions and mass sterilization.  But the idea that this young woman has headed up the Al Qaeda unit and imprisoned Khalid al-Masri is bizarre considering her lack of experience.  Did she have something to do with finding Usam bin Laden?  Thus Blogged Anderson has a pretty good analysis of Associated Press reports on Tomason.

If Tomason is really who the internet has been painting her to be, then maybe there is a need for secrecy so she can continue her work.  But with a President who has secrets galore, it is worrisome to think that a leader in our security against terrorism is the same type of person.  Indeed, who is Audrey Tomason?
