A couple of years ago, I started researching this idea of a clean energy economy that Barack Obama has made the central anchor of his budgetary and economic plans and coined the phrase Green Industrial Complex. For decades, conspiracy theorists have focused on a Military Industrial Complex, but I think their focus has been on the wrong entity. The Green Industrial Complex is what the left is using to build their Marxist Utopia in America and George Soros is their financier and the government is the enforcer. This morning I watched former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal and listened to this woman sing the praises of electric cars and pushing the need for policy. That policy not only includes subsidies and tax breaks (I thought these people hated oil subsidies) , but a commitment to have 25% of the cars on the road be electric cars by 2020. Yep, in nine years, Granholm expects a fourth of the cars on our roads to be electric. This despite the fact, that CBO and economists projections have us barely climbing out of this economic hole in ten years. Who the hell will be buying these cars, which generally run over $40,000? Policy is the word that really stood out to me during this interview. Granholm mentioned ”policy” over and over and if the government did not “intervene”, then we would watch jobs go overseas. The left’s tactic of fearmongering continues. And the idea that the government can intervene by pushing policy is as facist as it comes.
Why would these people continue to push a losing endeavour? The idea that America would create 40% of the batteries in electric cars is preposterous. Even worse is the idea that this industry is the wave of the future and will save America. And the irony that these enviro-statists ignore is that electricity has to come from something and that something is mostly coal – an industry our Imbecile-in-Chief promised to bankrupt. The truth is that these people are looking for something other than a cleaner planet. It is about money, power and control. George Soros, the financier of the Green Industrial Complex, wrote in his eleventh book “The Crash of 2008: the new Paradigm for Financial Markets” that “energy policy could play a much more innovative role in counteracting both recession and deflation. The American consumer can no longer act as the motor of the global economy. A new motor is needed. Alternative energies and energy savings could serve as that motor, but only if the price of conventional fuels is kept high enough to justify investing in them. That might also help to moderate price deflation. Neither energy security nor the control of global warming can be achieved without putting a price on carbon emissions. The United States cannot do it alone, but it cannot be done without the United States taking the lead.”
This is when the birth of Cap and Trade or what I call Crap & Tax came into play and it is a policy. A part of the policy that both Granholm and Soros are pushing. Granholm stated in her interview that the government needs to intervene to get more electric vehicles on the road. This needs to be done because there is not a high demand for those vehicles. Which is what Soros is getting at when he claims that the American consumer can no longer be the motor. That is facism.
And now the President has nominated John Bryson as his new Secretary of Commerce. Bryson is a committed enviro-statist. CNSNews reports:
John Bryson, President Obama’s nominee to head the Commerce Department, told a University of California Berkeley audience in 2010 that a cap and trade system was a good way to hide a carbon tax from the public. Bryson, formerly the CEO of Edison International, said that a carbon tax was the new “third rail” of politics because politicians wouldn’t want to tax energy directly. “I think it’s still unlikely there’ll be a carbon tax bill because I think in the end a very high percentage of the members of Congress think it’s kind of the third rail to support a tax, even if it’s a carbon tax,” Bryson said. “Greenhouse gas legislation, either with a tax or with cap and trade – which is a more complicated way of getting at it but it has the advantage of politically sort of hiding the fact that you have a tax – but that’s what you’re trying to do,” he added.
So Obama’s nominee to head up commerce, our trade in goods and services, is a big time supporter of Crap & Tax. But even more disturbing is that he is the former CEO of Edison International, which is a company heavily invested in none other than wind energy. Bryson said, “At our company [Edison International] for example we have quite a large wind energy business across the United States – the drivers are the portfolio standards, the renewable portfolio standards, those are mandates – it’s like the investor-owned utilities in California – 33 percent [renewables] by 2020. That’s a driver. You’re not messing around with what’s the price signal going to be. If you don’t get that done, you get penalized in a big way.” What he means by standards is regulations. Bryson wants the government to regulate the standards in such a way that companies that produce energy are penalized for producing too much, at least according to the government. Is that not insane? And these regulations will force companies to create a certain amount of green energy. Again, Obama wants this guy in charge of commerce!
And if you think Crap & Tax is dead in the water since Congress did not get it through, think again. The EPA has taken up the reigns and Big Government details new regulations that the EPA can implement without congressional approval. These new rules will force coal plants to shut down. Still wondering what will power those electric cars – Mr. Wind I suppose? And so the Green Industrial Complex pushes forward and in case no one has noticed, it is succeeding in driving up gas prices while shutting down that industry, buying up land so that the government owns most of the country and blowing a huge hole in the economy.
