Obama Tells Admiral Mullen That Troops May Not Get Paid

Is there no depths to which the Democrats or the President will not sink?  Fearmongering elderly people and telling them they will not receive their Social Security checks is deplorable, but telling our troops that they will not get paid while they risk their lives is unhuman!  Especially when both of those threats are pure hogwash.  We bring in $200 billion in revenue every month, so there is plenty to pay Social Security, the troops and the interest on our debt.  Rep. Steve King has tried to get legislation through that will guarantee payment to troops and investors with H.R. 2496: Payment Reliability for our Obligations to Military and Investors to Secure Essential Stability Act.  Right now it sits in committee and I guarantee the Senate will block it to keep some leverage if no debt deal is sealed.  The Act states, “To specify that in the event that the debt ceiling is reached, the United States shall prioritize the payment of pay and allowances to members of the Armed Forces, including reserve components thereof, and the payment of obligations on the public debt, and to appropriate such funds as may be necessary to ensure that members of the Armed Forces, including reserve components thereof, continue to receive pay and allowances for active service performed when a funding gap occurs.”
