White House News Conference On Debt Talks

President Obama is blathering on this morning, once again, about the debt crisis America faces.  When no deal is in sight, is it not preposterous that Obama would hold a White House News Conference on the Debt Deal?  The latest talks fell apart last night, as they should.  As I stated yesterday, there should be no raising of the debt ceiling and certainly no increasing our taxes.  The Democrats are unwilling to agree to anything that does not include raising taxes.  With unemployment on the rise again, how can anyone think that raising taxes is a good idea right now?  My question I would have for the President today is, “What are you going to do if there is no deal in ten days?”

Obama has informed us that everybody agrees we need to raise the debt ceiling and that there is much work to do.  Congressional leaders and the President will meet every day until they reach an agreement.  Obama thanks House Speaker Boner for his efforts and asks, “If not now, when?”  He claims this is a moral imperative.  Does he know what the term “moral” means?  The President claims that even programs he likes will need to go with shared sacrifice.  Someone in the Press Corpse (LOL) better ask if he will give up ObamaCare to see just how willing the President is to sacrifice.

The President continues to claim that both sides will give nothing and are holding to a 100% maximalist position.  I’m pretty sure the GOP has been very flexible, so much so that I’m pissed at them!  But Boner knows he better hold to no taxes or he is cutting his own throat.  The President claims they will resolve this in a serious way and that he will not accept a temporary stopgap.  And then come the questions:

He is asked what he will do if GOP continues to refuse tax increases and if he would sign a stop gap measure.  Obama says he will not sign any stopgap and that we need to pull off the band-aid and eat our peas.  Obama claims they have not discussed raising taxes, but that they have discussed getting rid of tax loopholes and then he claims that people like himself should pay more.  IS THAT NOT RAISING TAXES?  Come on Press, don’t sit there like idiots on this.  OMG, he claims he is for renewing the tax cuts they passed in December and yet he has said over and over again that he would not renew those tax cuts again.  And we all know that there was not a tax cut, there was merely a renewing of the Bush tax rates.  Obama says he has compromised so GOP should.

Chip Reid points out that only 24% of Americans want the debt ceiling raised.  The President claims we don’t care about the debt ceiling and that he and other politicians are paid to worry about it.  How condescending!  The problem for Obama is that we don’t believe the lies or fearmongering anymore.  We will NOT default!  We take in enough to cover our debts.  It is their overbloated spending that we will not be able to pay for.  Obama says that it is not an option to sit by and do nothing.

Obama claims that Social Security is not the reason for our debt problems.  We need to strengthen it he claims.  I agree it is not the complete cause, but anyone who believes that it is not a major contributor is smoking crack…oh wait…he used to do that, right?  Or was it Cocaine?  This President said he is able to hold onto several thousands he doesn’t need, while there are people who struggle.  Alright Illustrious One, cut a check to the government today to pay down the debt.  No one is stopping you.  And he claims, once again, that his Porkulus created and saved millions of jobs.  Hey Press, this was your chance to ask about Operation Gunrunner in the Porkulus!

The President mentioned his “Infrastructure Bank” again and said we have the potential to create one.  But we can’t pay our bills right now.  This is more of that investing while we cut insanity.  He thinks he can save the country with his shovel-ready jobs.  When I typed that last sentence I heard the echo of giggles.  Did anyone else here that?  I saw a vision of Jeffrey Immelt with his head tilted back in laughter at the same time.  Obama claims he has talked to business leaders and that they are hesitant to weigh in on their thoughts on the debt ceiling and don’t want to make anybody wrong.  Who has he been talking to?  Google?  GE, a corporation that paid no taxes last year?  Obama mentions Warren Buffett who agrees that he is willing to pay slightly higher taxes.  Obama points out CEOs got 23% in raises while regular workers made less than a 1% increase.

He is asked if the White House has a contingency plan if this deal is not done in ten days.  He answers, “We will get this done by August 2nd.”  The President blows smoke up Boner’s ass complimenting his leadership and then says something about assuming the other side is patriotic and wants the best for the country.  So raising the debt ceiling is patriotic?

A reporter asks about HR2411 and Obama says he will not talk about a particular bill.  HR2411 gives employees the ability to have more money taken from their checks to pay down the debt and gives the responsiblity of withholding the taxes and filling out paperwork on the employer.  He takes the opportunity to blather on about how most of the job loss is Bush’s fault, that the unemployemnt rate has been really stubborn (like it is a living entity) and that the middle class is really suffering.  He blames the deficit and debt on the recession!  Yep, none of his quadruple spending has anything to do with our debt.  Egad, he mentions the Infrastructure Bank again.

Yep, we’re going to get this done according to the Illustrious One.  What a joke!  And again GOP, if you raise this ceiling, pack your bags!
