The Iowa Caucus is a little over a week away and I find myself uninspired by any of the candidates. There is not one on the stage that I am dying to pull the lever for and move him/her on to the next level in their quest to be President. All the candidates are working the state of Iowa hard, but what does it matter if you shake a few thousand hands when you cannot inspire a nation. We are all looking for a Ronald Reagan…we NEED a Ronald Reagan and despite each candidate throwing around the former president’s name at debates, there is not one that matches the leadership of a Reagan, nor the ability to stimulate the electorate. And the greatest obstacle to each of these candidates is the man they are trying to drive from office: Barack Obama. Obama is the magnifying glass revealing what this nation really needs in a leader and none of the candidates have that.
Over three years ago, a nation slumbered. Decades of government growth and abuse went unchecked and unchallenged. The coronation of the Illustrious One awakened the nation and for that, I thank President Obama. People like myself who used to sit on the couch and rant at the TV realized that nothing in this nation was going to change unless we did it ourselves. And so the fight began and a Tea Party Movement was born. This seems to be lost on all of the candidates. Sure there are a couple who share the values of the Tea Party in general – Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul – but do any of those three inspire anyone except for the Paulbot Kool-Aid drinkers? And polls and talking heads have basically given the prize to Mitt Romney, the one candidate that I have heard no Tea Party activist get excited about. Why after the work we have put in for three years, are we facing yet another dreaded “vote for the lesser of the evils” election? It is frustrating.
The thing I have realized is that the 2012 Election is about us. It really doesn’t matter who we use to dethrone Obamy. What matters is what we do after getting rid of the worst president in American history. We are going to be the ones who will have to monitor Congress and rein in the next president. We will have to be more active and watchful than ever before because our country hangs in the balance. I have met some amazing people along the path these past three years and I know we are the people we have been waiting for and that we can restore this nation. It is going to take time. As the Marxist-in-Chief likes to say, “Let me be clear, this didn’t happen overnight.” But I know we can do it if the conservative movement unites.
