Green Industrial Fail Again

The Obama Administration continues to forcefeed the Green Industrial Complex on the American people as it limits America’s energy options and continues wasting taxpayer dollars.  For decades, the Green Industrial Complex has endeavored to control the masses with overreaching regulations, by stifling any attempts to obtain energy from our own resources and passing laws requiring individuals and companies to use certain types of lightbulbs, smart meters, ethanol and even fuel sources that do not exist.  This latter demand has been placed on companies that supply motor fuel that requires them to mix cellulosic biofuel into their motor fuel and because the companies have not done this, they were fined $6.8 million this last year.  Never mind that the biofuel does not even exist.

Barack Obama’s administration embraces every facet of the Green Industrial Complex and has made its goals a keystone piece of their plans for the country.  Every major speech up to this point has included some mention of some element of green jobs, green industry, green energy and sustainability.  And the government has invested billions of dollars into this industry in hopes that it would save the economy without even doing a business plan or proper vetting of companies to verify that it benefits the country.  And indeed, none of the investments have paid off.  Currently, twelve companies have received monies from the federal government in the form of loans to the tune of $6.5 billion.  The companies who recieved these taxpayer dollars have either gone bankrupt or are well on their way of becoming bankrupt.  Most companies were already in severe trouble when they recieved the loans and investigations are revealing that the money was used to prop up the companies to make them appear successful.  The problem is that this type of energy is too expensive, not ready for primetime or not feesible, i.e. you can’t run a car on solar or wind.  These companies include: Solyndra, Beacon Power, Evergreen Solar, SpectraWatt, AES, Nevada Geothermal, SunPower and First Solar.

Solyndra has become the better known of all the troubled companies as congressional investigations have been held to discover what exactly happened at the company.  Recently, Solyndra has asked a bankruptcy court if it could pay bonuses to two dozen of its remaining 84 employees to ensure that they stay with the company.  The bonuses would amount to a half million dollars.  In typical fashion, the Obama administration commenced another Friday evening document dump in regards to Solyndra and information that reveals the administration was aware of the layoffs Solyndra was planning before the midterm elections.

Bloomberg reports:

The Obama administration knew before the 2010 election that Solyndra LLC, a solar-panel maker that received a $535 million U.S. loan guarantee, planned to fire workers, according to e-mails released today.   The messages don’t indicate that anyone from the White House directed Solyndra to delay announcing the layoffs until after the vote. Previously released e-mails, indicating the Energy Department urged Solyndra to postpone the cuts, have been cited by House Republicans who say politics influenced Solyndra’s award and last-ditch rescue bid that put taxpayers behind $75 million in private investment.

Previous document dumps revealed October 2010 emails from the White House Climate Change Advisor Heather Zichal to Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy Director Carol Browner warning that Solyndra planned to lay off at least 200 employess before the 2010 elections and since this did not happen until after the election, it does not take much common sense to figure out that the lay offs were delayed to manipulate the election.  The shallacking of Obama and the Democrats was not prevented.

The Green Industrial Complex has blocked all attempts for our country to obtain energy sources from our own resources by either blocking drilling permits in the ocean or for shale and even blocking the building of the Keystone XL Pipeline from Canada to our refineries near the Gulf that would create 20,000 jobs and not cause damaging environmental impact.  Now the Canadian Prime Minister will travel to China to make a deal with them rather than us.  The irony in that is that China creates green energy cheaper than we do and is one of the reasons America’s green industry is an utter failure.  Now China will get oil that should be ours and cripple this nation’s energy independence.

And the dreaded Smart Meters that I have written about previously are being installed in many states.  Nevada is the next one up and starting this month NV Power will be installing Smart Meters in every customer’s home touting it as a great way to keep track of your energy usage and keep your bills down.  But the ability to use this technology in the future to actually control the energy usage in your home is troubling.  NV Energy even points out that they are made aware immediately if your home loses power.  Does this mean they could cause your home to lose power as well?  Another troubling fact is that the government also has our taxpayer dollars in this venture.  NV Energy received $303 million in government grants.

Anything run by the government other than the military ultimately fails.  And even the military has had to struggle for success against an overreaching and uneducated government.  The Green Industrial Complex continues to fail and the government continues to feed money into that failure.  This must be a key part of any GOP candidates platform and rhetoric: shine light on the failures and corruption and promise to rollback regulations and build the Keystone XL Pipeline.

UPDATE:  Willard & Kelsey Solar Group LLC, a solar panel company that has received millions of dollars in government loans and been toured by VP Biden, announced today that it has laid off about 40 people indefinitely as of the beginning of January until it can make changes to its production line.  That is half of its workforce.  Another government backed green company biting the dust!
