CPAC 2012 was my very first experience with the annual event. From the moment I stepped inside the hotel, I could feel the excitement and the sense of expectation from other attendees of the conference. I wondered who I would have an opportunity to meet and talk to, as well as what would I see, hear and learn. See, that is what CPAC is really all about. It’s about networking and re-energizing the conservative movement. It’s about sharing ideas and discussion. And it’s also something the MSM and the GOP establishment really don’t want to talk about.
The New Media was in abundance, but you saw precious little of the mainstream media. Very few of the GOP establishment was in attendance, as opposed to the up and coming “TEA Party” candidates and those challenging the members of Congress that have been in D.C. for far too long. I was amazed at how much of CPAC would not be reported via the big news outlets, including FOX News. I found myself wondering why. Then…it hit me! Because we’re tired of just the “big stories” of fighting between the parties and the sensationalism that even FOX News seems to be favoring.
That’s right! Those of us truly engaged in trying to make a difference in America are turning away from those large news networks and tuning into the New Media. We’re reading articles, blogs and listening to radio via the internet now. For those that would ask why, I offer the following. Because we’re sick and tired of being spoon fed what the partnership between the mainstream media and D.C. establishment have decided to feed us. We want to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The New Media gives us the “meat” of knowledge in politics that we really want.
FTRRadio.com, Blogtalkradio.com and some smaller terrestrial stations were represented. Of course, these are the shows that are about more than just regurgitating the “talking points” of both parties. These are the people interested in getting the message out about the things that are really going on in D.C. The “New Media” is reporting on the legislation that we aren’t hearing about via the MSM because the MSM has a vested interest in keeping the “status quo”.
The Freedom’s Wings Show broadcasted live from CPAC on Thursday and Saturday. Thanks to my being there, we had the opportunity to talk to a young man in college and get his thoughts on CPAC, as well as his point of view on politics. Do you think MSM would have gotten that? No. They’re more interested in getting the “big name speakers” to come and give a quick sound bite. BigDawgMusicMafia.com also broadcast their “Live Open Mic: Off the Cuff ‘n’ Ruff” show from the lobby in the hotel. The live video broadcast allowed viewers to experience the excitement and energy while also giving them an opportunity to ask questions of those we interviewed via the “chatroom”. I can’t imagine any of the big news outlets giving their viewers that kind of access…can you?
The New Media was there to capture the excitement and the energy, the stories that no one else is talking about, and to network with one another while sharing information. The new media wants to keep those of us engaged, energized and in “the know” when it comes to the conservative movement. We haven’t been bought off by the establishment and therefore, the real story of CPAC 2012 could be told. Something the MSM doesn’t want to do because if they keep you in the dark long enough, you won’t see or hear what they don’t want you to know. What I took away from CPAC 2012 was this: If you want to stay informed and energized, “New Media” is where you tune in.

Candi, so glad you guys were there to represent the patriots out here in America that couldn’t attend. We loved having the Open Mic coming live from CPAC! Thanks to all of you that were there and making a difference!
Thank you, Ms. Patty. It was truly an honor and a pleasure to represent The Freedom’s Wings Show and BigDawgMusicMafia.com. I enjoyed bringing some of the experience into everyone’s home, even though it was just a small part. Thank you and Michael for all you do and your support.
